Fatime is a psychologist

In the heart of Agadir, at Praktikrejsen’s partner clinic, you’ll meet a dedicated team of professionals who work every day to promote the development and well-being of children and young people with special needs.

One of them is Fatime, who recently joined the organization as a clinical psychologist and body therapist—and has already made a strong impression.

A calling to make a difference

Fatime is from another region in Morocco, but chose to move to Agadir to join the organization that works with children and young people with physical and intellectual disabilities.

Her background is wide-ranging—from a bachelor’s and master’s degree in psychology to specializations in child development, parenting education, and positive parenting.

“I wanted to contribute and grow professionally,” she says. “The association has a vision, a solid structure, and a strong reputation—and I look forward to contributing my experience.”

Understanding the child—and their surroundings

Fatime takes a holistic approach. She begins with observations and conversations, not only with the child, but also with parents and teachers. By understanding the child’s surroundings, she is better able to identify what is caused by the environment—and what stems from the child’s own behavior.

“I conduct both clinical interviews and observations. I meet with parents to understand their background and environment—this helps me distinguish between behavior caused by the environment and behavior that is more learned.”

A job full of hope and potential

Following her initial observations, Fatime develops a psychological assessment form and an individualized development program for the child. The program focuses on building on the child’s strengths and developing areas needing improvement—with the goal of increasing independence, well-being, and integration.

“A child with a disability is not a child without potential—we simply need to help them express their abilities through the right support, training, and education.”

Along with her colleagues Imane and Feria, Fatime also provides guidance to parents and support to teachers.
